And so it begins . . .

Welcome to DAY ONE of the Barb Smith Studio blog! Until today I’ve been on the outside looking in and thinking that “one day” I’d like to join the blogger community. Today is the day I’m jumping in!

Let's start with a quick introduction . . .

I'm a wife, mom, and grandmother from Southern California who is exploring her
creative side after years of “coloring inside the lines.” I have retired from two 18 year careers and am beginning career number three . . . as a mixed media artist. I admit it feels strange to call myself an “artist” when I am so new at it . . . but every new career has to have a beginning, right?

I love the Danny Kaye quote I use on my banner: “Life is a great big canvas, throw all the paint on it you can!” It's a perfect quote for what I love doing . . . swirling and sloshing paint on canvas and getting my hands dirty . . . and a wonderful way of looking at life.
