One of the things about traveling my path toward becoming a mixed media artist is I’m still “finding myself” artistically. Just when I think I know which direction to go some new shiny art form catches my eye and off I go. I’m going to blame Pinterest, in part, for this! Have you seen all the beautiful art styles you can pin? Several of my Boards on Pinterest show art forms I find appealing . . . collage, journal pages, cards, tags, ATCs, altered smalls, altered books and journals, little 3-D houses, valentines and hearts, paper art dolls, tiny dresses, and a myriad of mixed media. Plus, there’s a wealth of tutorials and instructional videos on all sorts of art!
Many may say it’s a time waster to spend so much time on Pinterest but I disagree . . . I find it creative and inspirational as I continue to find my artistic self as I travel down this soul fulfilling artful path.
Today I want to show seven “art ideas” I’ve pinned on my Pinterest Boards – and share with you what I find inspiring in each - enjoy . . .
This vintage looking album/journal cover in a soft color palette is loaded with all sorts of little bits I love . . . buttons, tags, flowers, ribbons, and strings. (Source: http://www.scrappadingue.net)
Here again I am drawn to a vintage looking journal cover with a peach and green color palette. I like the edge scallops and the button closure. And, I adore the use of the pearl swirl and the strip of lace. (Source: http://www.monkeydreamz.blogspot.com)
I have always been fascinated by tiny items sitting on top of blocks. These two blocks have the cutest little birds! The muted papers used around the blocks and the choice of patterns used for the birds is very much to my liking. The little opening that holds a nest is so creative. This simple collage packs a wallop . . . I like the words and the use of plaster covered with a gray wash on a wood block. Could just as easily be created on a regular canvas. (Source: wherethegrassisgreener-rz.blogspot.com )
This project is such a good idea . . . a notebook/journal with a matching holder. I like the “word” paper used on both and the yellow and blue palette used throughout the pages . . . with a bit of grey and aqua. (Source: http://taillefinescrap.canalblog.com)
I love the use of words, quotes, or sayings in art. This particular journal page has that plus a nice background color and darling flowers and string swirls. And, using a small tag to date the page is cute. (Source: donnadowney.typepad.com)
When I look at this card I see a collage! I like the use of corrugated cardboard behind the hearts and the various pink patterned papers . . . which would translate well to a collaged canvas. (Source: carinalindholm.blogspot.com)
Have a crafty week . . . Barb
